African Palm Oil Mill

How We Helped an African Palm Oil Mill Upgrade FFB Handling with a 30 T/H Unloading Ramp

A palm oil mill in Africa was upgrading its Fresh Fruit Bunch handling system and needed a more efficient way to receive and feed incoming FFB into the processing line.

For this project, VORTECH supplied and completed a 30 T/H FFB Unloading Ramp, designed to improve fruit reception, simplify unloading, and maintain a more stable flow of FFB to downstream palm oil processing equipment.

The project focused not simply on adding new equipment, but on improving the connection between FFB receiving and continuous palm oil production.

Project Overview

Fresh Fruit Bunch reception is one of the first stages of a palm oil mill. When large volumes of FFB arrive at the plant, the receiving system needs to handle the fruit efficiently while maintaining a steady supply to the next processing stage.

For this African palm oil mill upgrade, the customer required an FFB unloading ramp with a capacity of 30 tons per hour to support its production requirements.

Key Project Specifications

  • Project Location: Africa
  • Equipment: FFB Unloading Ramp
  • Processing Capacity: 30 T/H
  • Material: Fresh Fruit Bunches
  • Application: FFB Reception and Feeding
  • Project Type: Palm Oil Mill Equipment Upgrade

Why Upgrade the FFB Unloading System?

FFB unloading is more than simply transferring palm fruit from trucks into the mill.

The unloading section needs to receive incoming Fresh Fruit Bunches efficiently and create a controlled material flow toward downstream equipment. An unsuitable receiving system can make material handling less efficient and affect the continuity of the following processing stages.

For a palm oil mill handling higher FFB volumes, the unloading ramp therefore needs to match the plant’s actual processing capacity and material-handling requirements.

Our Solution: A 30 T/H FFB Unloading Ramp

VORTECH supplied a 30 T/H FFB unloading ramp for the palm oil mill based on the customer’s production needs.

The system provides a dedicated area for receiving Fresh Fruit Bunches before they enter the next stage of the production process. Its capacity was selected to support the customer’s required FFB throughput and improve coordination between fruit unloading and downstream feeding.

Rather than treating the unloading ramp as an independent machine, we considered its role as part of the overall palm oil mill FFB handling system.

This helps create a smoother transition from:

FFB Arrival → Unloading → Temporary Receiving → Controlled Feeding → Downstream Processing

Supporting More Stable FFB Feeding

One of the main purposes of the new unloading ramp is to provide a more organized and continuous receiving process.

With the new system in place, incoming Fresh Fruit Bunches can be unloaded and transferred more efficiently, helping reduce interruptions between truck unloading and subsequent processing.

For the palm oil mill, this supports:

  • More efficient FFB reception
  • Smoother material transfer
  • More stable feeding to downstream equipment
  • Better coordination between unloading and production
  • Improved overall palm oil mill workflow

From Equipment Upgrade to Better Mill Operation

A palm oil mill upgrade does not always require replacing the entire production line.

In many projects, improving a key material-handling section can help remove bottlenecks and better match existing equipment with increased production requirements.

For this African project, upgrading the FFB receiving and unloading section provided the customer with a practical way to strengthen the front end of the palm oil processing line while continuing to use the rest of the mill infrastructure.

Upgrade FFB Handling Unloading Ramp

The Result: A New 30 T/H FFB Receiving System

The new 30 T/H FFB unloading ramp has now been completed as part of the customer’s palm oil mill equipment upgrade.

The project gives the mill a more efficient way to receive Fresh Fruit Bunches and maintain a stable material flow into the processing line.

For VORTECH, the goal of a palm oil mill project is not simply to supply individual machines. Each piece of equipment needs to fit the customer’s required capacity, existing plant layout, and overall production process.

This project is another example of how we help palm oil processors improve specific sections of their plants through practical equipment upgrades.
